Additionally, Campus Safety is unable to receive phone calls including its non-emergency line, 319-335-5022. Please continue to use 911 for all emergency calls. All non-emergency calls should temporarily be directed to 319-855-0171. An update will be provided when the interruption has been resolved.

Technicians are working to resolve this issue. 
 

ITS will be conducting voice services maintenance at Boyd Law Building.

A network maintenance window is reserved for the ITS Network Engineering team to modify access rules for the voice services network, per request of the voice systems engineers. The outage expected should be for a few seconds during the 30 minute maintenance window.

NOTE: This network is where analog devices specific to voice services for campus are connected. Skype for Business calls will not be impacted.

Enterprise Infrastructure will be doing maintenance work on the fiber network that will cause a network and fire alarm outage. This will affect all wired, wireless, SfB phones and fire alarm panel within the building. This will not affect any analog gateways for the elevator or area refuge phones.

HCIS staff will be performing session border controller (SBC) maintenance. All telephony services may experience a brief outage (15-30 seconds) during the maintenance window. Ongoing calls may be disconnected during this time.

HCIS and ITS Staff will be performing analog gateway maintenance. Analog gateway telephony services in the affected buildings will experience up to a 30 minute interruption during the maintenance window.
 

HCIS staff will be performing upgrades to the HCIS border firewall infrastructure. The timeline and expected impact to University of Iowa services are as follows: 

• 8:15 PM – Active voice (analog gateway and SIP voice services) and Skype for Business calls may be disconnected. Voice and Skype for Business services will be unavailable for up to 30 seconds.

During the outage period, devices utilizing the analog gateways for telephony service may briefly be unable to make or receive calls, and in progress calls may be dropped. Devices that may be impacted include:

• Common Area Phones
• Classroom Phones

Skype for Business users will not be impacted during the outage period. 

Routine maintenance will be performed on campus voice network hardware. End users are not expected to be impacted during this time. 

ITS will be performing maintenance affecting telephone and voice services. Skype for Business users will not be affected. During the maintenance window, PBX and Gateway phones will be unable to make or receive calls for 5 minutes while the system reboots.

Telephone services will be down. This does not include Skype for Business.

Analog telephone service is offline in the following buildings due to a power outage at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex.

Maintenance will be performed on telephone services. The work may cause brief outages of the voice services on NEC and analog telephones and voice mail systems that operate out of the Chemistry Building due to the reconfiguration of data connections.

Skype for Business and Unified Messaging should not be affected.

Maintenance will be performed on telephone services. The work may cause call interruptions and the inability to call off campus.

Campus phones (Skype for Business and landline) are receiving a high volume of brute force robo calls saturating the network. All on or off campus calls are potentially impacted.

Plaza Center One will be without power due to a transformer replacement. Networking, both wired and wireless, and telephone service will be down. 

There are intermittent issues with automatic call distribution (ACD) phones on campus being able to receive calls from off campus. Support staff are working to resolve the issue. 

We are currently experiencing phone issues.  ITS support technicians are working to resolve these problems as quickly as possible.

We are currently experiencing issues with the Skype for Business telephony services. ITS technicians are working to resolve the issue and this posting will be updated when more information is available.

Campus phones (Skype for Business and landline) are currently receiving a high volume of spoofed robo-calls.  Support staff are monitoring the situation.

Landline telephone voice services in Hancher Auditorium will be interrupted due to the replacement of voice equipment.

Network connectivity issues have been reported from Calvin Hall.  ITS support staff are working to get this resolved as quickly as possible.

UPDATE: Network connectivity and wireless access has been restored in Hancher Auditorium. 

Original Notice: A pipe burst on the first floor of Hancher Auditorium causing water damage in the main telecommunications closet. This has affected wireless connectivity as well as potential phone and data outages in the building. 

ITS Voice Services and Network Services will be making changes to IP addressing.

During this work, it is possible that voice calling might be disrupted, causing call failures or calls in progress to drop.  In addition, the gateway that enables Unified Messaging for NEC phone users will be disrupted.

While the actual changes themselves should only take a few minutes each to complete, we are reserving this entire time to complete the work as we do not know exact times when  each step will start and finish.

The phone switch located in the Pappajohn Biomedical Discovery Building (PBDB) will be down for maintenance during this time.
Please note if telephone users have voicemails with a blinking indicator light before maintenance occurs, the indicator lights will not be restored after the work is performed. This work will not affect voicemails but it is recommended that users check for voicemail messages after the work is completed.

Affected users include traditional telephone users (not Skype for Business telephony users).
