Your HawkID is your personal identifier for University of Iowa online services. Use it with your HawkID password to access your university email, systems like MyUI and ICON, and other resources.
Your HawkID usually reflects some combination of your first, middle, and last name. For example, John F. Doe might have the HawkID "jfdoe".
HawkIDs also are useful for guests, collaborators, contractors, or other external users who need access to Iowa systems.

This issue has been resolved.
We are receiving reports that the password reset tools at hawkid.uiowa.edu are slow and not able to confirm identity through text messages. Support staff are working to resolve the issues.
A scheduled HawkID maintenance will occur lasting between 30 minutes and 2 hours. No user impact is expected during this timeframe.
The web authentication experience will be updated on Monday, November 21, 2022. This change brings multiple enhancements, including modernized frameworks, adoption of the university brand standard, and support of device preferences for "dark mode".
The new design will be deployed to all HawkID authenticated web applications using the enterprise web login services: ADFS, Shibboleth, and UI Passport/Login Tools. Applications with significant page customizations will not be affected by this change but will be transitioned to a consistent experience by early 2023. HealthCareID authenticated applications leveraging UI Passport will also be unaffected.
ITS will complete upgrades during this maintenance window. The HawkID password reset tool (https://hawkid.uiowa.edu) and Duo admin tools will be unavailable.
