With expanding technology use comes the need for increased support. For over 15 years, the University has been using Microsoft Configuration Manager, or MCM, to help with the challenges that IT administrators face when managing windows devices.
This tool is used to deploy:
- Software
- Operating Systems
- OS and software updates
- Device configuration
This tool is also used to:
- provide reports on the status of our windows devices
- provide remote troubleshooting tools for our IT staff.

Configuration Manager will be upgraded to 2203. During the upgrade all admin console connections will be closed, and a reminder sent out to close consoles.
The upgrade is expected to take 2-3 hours but it could take longer to prepare the Boot Media and iPXE images, so please stay out of the admin console until we send out a final notification. Departmental admins and consultants will be responsible for updating their local admin consoles.
The SCCM site will be unavailable to install hotfix KB12959506.
During the install, all admin console connections will be closed.
The SCCM site will be down for maintenance as it is updated to version 2111. During the upgrade all configuration manager admin console connections will be closed.
This issue has been resolved.
ITS is currently testing a workaround for this issue. After a few more days of testing, the workaround will go into production.
There have been reports of issues with OSD that may cause duplicate objects. This seems to happen most often when using a brand new AD object. ITS is looking for the duplicates and cleaning them up. Please let ITS know if you have a freshly imaged computer having issues.

The Configuration Manager site will be unavailable in order to switch to the new SAN storage space and some routine maintenance. A final notification will be sent out 15 minutes before shutting down the site. During this time please refrain from using your Configuration Manager consoles, accessing Web Reports or starting any client deployments from the Software Center. A second notification will be sent out once the site is up and running again.
UPDATE: The application install issue during OSD has been resolved.
Original Notice: We have reports that OS deployments through SCCM are not installing applications. Our support staff is currently investigating this issue.

A maintenance window is scheduled for one of the two primary distribution points for the client management service to upgrade the OS to Server 2012 R2. There should be minimal service outages with this maintenance due to the redundancy. Our recommendation is to avoid imaging during this time if possible.
